What is Barren Island
Barren Island is a volcanic island located in the Andamans and Nicobar Island. It is the only active volcano among the chain of islands from Myanmar to Sumatra. Not just that – it is also the only active volcano in South Asia. You wouldn’t want to miss witnessing such a rare sight, would you? Barren Island first erupted more than around 100 years ago in the 1700s, and then around the 2000s, the volcano erupted again. It has been spewing magma on and off since then. While you’ll not be allowed to watch a full-blown eruption, you can still visit the active volcano.
